We don’t talk about pelvic floor dysfunction enough.

Pelvic health concerns related to bladder leakage, bowel problems, chronic pelvic pain, low back pain, sexual difficulties, and pregnancy can be all-consuming, but it’s also pretty taboo to bring up your constipation with friends at brunch. It might even feel challenging to tell your healthcare provider you experience pain with sex unless they directly ask.

I hold space for people across the gender spectrum to talk about these symptoms in a way that feels supportive and affirming, so we can work toward making long-lasting changes so you can feel like yourself again.

I also work with people preparing for and rehabilitating from pelvic or abdominal surgeries like: vaginoplasty, cesarean birth, hysterectomy, prostatectomy, hernia repair, and prolapse repair to ease recovery, get better surgical outcomes, and get you back to the things you’re missing.

You also get health & wellness coaching

We face conflicting health advice every day, whether it’s something you saw on social media, heard about from a friend, or were chain emailed from your great aunt. Evidence can be presented in a ways that seem reliable, so it can be really tricky to tell what is trustworthy.

An unbiased professional can help simplify things and offer you clear guidance that's based off the best available evidence and tailored to your needs. You deserve personalized support, accountability, and guidance to help you stay motivated, make informed choices, and build better habits so you can live a healthier life.

Health coaching can fit seamlessly into your pelvic health plan of care or stand alone if you don’t have pelvic health concerns.

What’s Pilates got to do with it?

Continue building strength and mobility through Pilates-based movement, whether as a key component of your pelvic health rehabilitation plan, a transitional step to independent exercise, or an ongoing therapeutic modality to get stronger and maintain your progress so you can continue to live without symptoms and confidently return to your previous level of function.

We partner with Heal: Pilates to bridge your care with ongoing individual Pilates sessions with expert instructors.

Why choose Soft Power?

  1. You get expert care from a totally nerdy provider who spends 92% of their free time reading research articles and learning more about pelvic health and chronic pain, specifically. You’re not just getting standard care from a generalist provider; you’re receiving an invitation to collaborate on your care from a true pelvic health specialist and devotee.

  2. You get time and consistency with hour-long sessions that focus on you with the same provider every time. That means your therapist will learn more about you, your history, your tendencies, your goals, (and probably your pets) with every session to provide even more personalized care every time you visit.

  3. The treatment space is beautiful and comfortable and doesn’t feel like a doctor’s office. You won’t just be told to relax with your pants off in a cold unfriendly room.

  4. Your provider is not just queer & trans friendly, fat friendly, and sex worker friendly. She has competence in treating folks with a variety of identities and expressions and wants to honor your unique experience. You will never be expected to educate your provider on how to be respectful around people with diverse bodies, identities, or preferences.

  5. Treatment is trauma-informed. Every minute of your session will focus on your consent and your comfort. Your provider will give you suggestions, but you’re always in charge.

  6. Your therapist has been the pelvic floor therapy patient. Sometimes providers don’t know what it’s like to be on the other side of really intimate healthcare, and it makes a huge difference in bedside manner when we have personally endured the same anxiety-inducing experiences.

  7. You will get more than passive treatments. Manual therapy and other modalities can feel really nice and can certainly play a big role in nervous system regulation, but both research and clinical experience have shown significant positive changes in recovery time and symptom management when patients take an active role in their own care.

  8. This is not just kegels. You will only get kegels in your home exercise program if you REALLY need them, and this is a small percentage of patients. There is so much more to pelvic floor therapy than squeezing your butthole.

  9. You will be educated on your symptoms and how to manage them. Your treatment will include strategies and tools you can use long term to manage your own symptoms. The goal is for you to finish your plan of care with everything you need, so you don’t need to come back. You get the power for once.
